Nope, it isn’t a Bob’s Burgers list (that may be in our future though). This is a birthday present to my dear friend. Would he probably prefer I not write him in to my fanfic (a la the novel What If It’s Us, a novel so corny it is more painful to read then it is to miss using front row tickets to Hamilton)?
Of course, but how selfish to think his birthday is about him. To honor my friend, I will be counting down my top 10 bob haircuts ever.
Wikipedia defines the bob cut as a short to medium-length haircut that gained widespread popularity in the 1920s. Mary Thurman, Colleen Moore and Louise Brooks are all credited as being amongst the first great American bobbers. A-line, buzz-cut, chin-length, inverted, shaggy, shingle and shoulder-length are the most common variations. Check out this link for some epic examples.
Names like Cyd Charisse, Liza Minelli, Josephine Baker and Jackie Kennedy probably come to mind for many when they think of bobs. Below find in no particular order my haphazard list of my top 10 bob cuts of the moment:

Historic, classic, and faithful chic.
3. Victoria Beckham

Her bob helped her transform herself from Tierra Mari’s understudy to legitimate pop superstar.
5. Mary J Blige
She consistently depends on the bob and pulls it off so well.
6. Dua Lipa
She has paired the bob with her recent move into disco pop. What’s not to love?
7. Rose Byrne
Does her bob constantly somehow evoke cold weather and frosty indifference? In other words- I love it.
8. Raven
Our queen and recent Emmy winner love a short and helmet-like do, and somehow pulls it off with abundant style.
9. Kelly Rowland
One of our true modern icons of the short cut, throughout her career she has transitioned from a bizarre Reba-like flip bob to a more elegant shoulder length bob. She will be your motivation.
10. Real Housewives bobs:
The Marvel-like universe that is the abundance of Real Housewives franchises houses within them a plethora of forays into bobs, with obviously mixed results. Recent highlights include Erika Jayne Garcelle Beauvais’ Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion bobs, and Candiace Dillard from the Real Housewives of Potomac’s stellar waves.
