THOTS

  • Gottmyk really shined. This was hers to lose and she won big. However, Utica seems to have made the most of out a difficult material and easily could have won as well.

  • Tamisha is not modern drag enough, but they love Gottmyk because, as she said in the workroom, she’s not following modern drag’s aesthetics. Huh? While I agreed with the judges that Tamisha’s looks were lame, and Gottmyk’s were great, I found the way the show implicitly coded their looks to be confusing. It serves as a reminder that Drag Race often plays fast and loose with what they are looking for.
  • Nicole Byer is a treasure. Make it official: put a ring on it for her to be a permanent judge.

  • Untucked was actually entertaining. Kandy and Tamisha both can’t admit they are wrong which always leads to reality tv gold. I’m slightly team Tamisha because I feel like Kandy can dish it but can’t take it, but really both are in the wrong. But then what does it feel so right to watch? Thankful for actual drama.
  • Morgan did a better Scottish look than Rosé. Symone did a better boxer look than Olivia.

CHART

  • Though she fell into the well-worn “I know its crazy but I can’t sew” trope, Symone snuck by and was safe. She still is reigning supreme on the chart, but Gottmyk has moved into the role of solidly 2nd now.

  • Lala and Tamisha are tied for last. So far this season, the queen who goes home as always tied for last on the chart from the episode prior. Will it be Lala or Tamisha sashaying away next?

  • Utica got a positive point for being ranked high, and with Joey gone Elliott and Tamisha are now the only remaining queens to not receive any positive points yet this season.
  • Like Kahmora last week, if Joey had somehow survived (maybe via Poison IV) she would have still be in dead last place.
  • Rosé hasn’t won yet, but she’s remaining successful in the big business of the chart by consistently getting rated high by the judges.

PREDICTIONS

  1. Gottmik (=)
  2. Symone (=)
  3. Denali (=)
  4. Rosé (+2)
  5. Olivia Lux (-1)
  6. Kandy Muse (-1)
  7. Utica (+1)
  8. Lala Ri (-1)
  9. Elliiott with 2 Ts (+2)
  10. Tina Burner (=)
  11. Tamisha Iman (-2)
  12. Joey Jay (Preseason Prediction: 11th, Most Recent Pre-Elimination Prediction: 12th)
  13. Kahmora Hall (Preseason Prediction: 10th; Most Recent Pre-Elimination Prediction: 12th)

  • I was only getting half the story: Tamisha is definitely not getting a Winner edit in Untucked. Though I think fans will side more with Tamisha than Kandy, I think Kandy has more potential to last longer based on her edit (and both are so stubborn I do not think we are going to get a whole season of them sparring because there would no resolution). Thus, I think that Tamisha could be the one sent packing next episode.
  • Could Rosé make the final 4? Kandy and Olivia are both getting less shine currently. That leaves a spot open and Rosé has been doing great so far.
  • Gottmyk proved she will be a force to be reckoned with on the runway and got generally good reviews last episode for her acting, so I think she’s extremely likely for the final 4 and still an ok bet for the win.

LIST

How ball winners have fared in herstory, and my favorite of their looks from the ball that they won:

  • Season 1: Bebe Zahara Benet (Final Season Placement: Winner)

Bebe had all red looks in the season 1 ball, but this elegant one was the best.

  • Season 2: Tyra Sanchez (Winner)

Not sure this one is from the ball but it is fabulous.

  • Season 3: Manila Luzon (2nd) Yara Sofia (4th)

Manila and Yara both made great outfits made of hair in the season 3 ball. Also never forget that Manila wanted to dress as a tampon on the show in All Stars 4. She is a fashion god.

  • Season 4: Sharon Needles (Winner)

This puppy fantasy is my favorite of Sharon’s winning ball looks.

  • Season 5: Alaska (2nd)

Alaska’s cotton candy look is her most famous, but I love her lady CEO look. “My god there better not be any bullshit!” Indeed.

  • Season 6: Adore Delano (2nd)

Adore’s bejeweled look was the most well regarded, but though its super basic I really liked her banjee look.

  • Season 7: Violet Chachki (Winner)

Violet’s Hello Kitty headpiece look was great, and also led to this amazing Pearl subtle unintentional shade moment.

  • Season 8: Kim Chi (2nd)

Kim made a truly stunning outfit in reference to her mother by evoking a traditional Korean hanbok.

  • Season 9: Shea Coulee (Winner)

Black leather unicorn is hard to pass up but I loved her first spray paint look.

  1. Season 10: Aquaria (Winner)

The last DC Comics villain-like look killed me.

  1. Season 11: Brooke Lynne Heights (2nd)

Sexy mummy on pointed feet is peak Brooke Lynn Hytes.

  • Season 12: Gigi Goode (2nd)

Heathers all the way.

  • Season 13: Gottmyk (?)

All 3 looks were great, but my favorite was her CEO look. Sequins and excessive boas are just the type of boss I’d want to complain about endlessly to my friends.

For further reading, check out this list I mostly agree with of the 100 best drag race looks through season 12 and All Stars 3.

The Cliff Notes: If Gottmyk doesn’t place 4th or higher, she will be the first winner of a ball every to do so. Things look gorge for sure.

That’s another one in the bag! A very found farewell to the dumbest bitch we’ve ever met. I enjoyed her commentary and cuteness as a boy. She will be missed.

See you next week and let the music play!
