No Offense: RuPaul’s Stats Race: Season 14, Episode 11

Hello Hello! Blog deadline update that nobody needs- this one is super early 🙂 First week of Spring Break has been …..good. I’m going to Miami next week and have done absolutely no bikini body prep. That said- enjoy!

THOTS

  • This episode was fun enough. The queens did a good job, the strategy and format were interesting. And shocker- someone actually went home!
  • That said, the producers really overestimate how engaging it is to watch an episode full of lip-syncs. It’s not as fun as they think.
  •  Calix turning the crank was very nice to watch, and he did it with appropriate vigor and intensity.
  • I felt for Jasmine. Of course, she’s annoying and way too much. But this was one of the most epic examples of the Drag Race producers going “oh honey- you’re good at that (lip syncing in Jasmine’s case)? Well, let’s cut you right down to size”.
  • I hated hearing the backstage queen’s commentary during the lip syncs. Shh! I’m watching.

CHART

  • So, as planned, I gave +1 for every lip-sync won this episode, and -1 for every lip-sync lost. Deja got nothing as she sat prettily at the back of the stage.
  • Bosco was the biggest loser, losing 2 lip-syncs and winning one for a takeaway of -1, which moves her down to 3rd.
  • Angeria and Lady Camden both lost one lip-sync and won one so netted zero points- which keeps them both at 1 and 4 respectively.
  • Willow, Jorgeous, and Daya all got +1 for winning one lip-sync and losing none, and it kept all 3 in the same chart placements (2nd, 6th and 7th )
  • Stats moment: Angeria has now spent 10 episodes in a row at #1 on my chart. That is the longest sustained time any queen has ever spent at #1. Sharon Needles in season 4 was at #1 for 9 straight episodes. Angeria is now tied with Bianca Del Rio from season 6 for the most total episodes at #1 in a season with 10. If she stays at #1 next week she will have the new record for being the biggest top ever on chart.

PREDICTIONS

  1. Willow Pill (Preseason: 10, Last Week: 1) =
  2. Angeria Paris Van Michaels (Preseason 6, Last Week: 2) =
  3. Bosco (Preseason: 1, Last Week: 3) =
  4. Jorgeous (Preseason: 5, Last Week: 4)
  5. Deja Skye (Preseason: 10, Last Week: 5)
  6. Lady Camden (Preseason: 13, Last Week: 6)
  7. Daya Betty (Preseason: 4, Last Week: 8) (+1)
  8. Jasmine Kennedie (Preseason: 9, Last Week: 7)
  9. Kerri Kolby (Preseason: 2, Last Week: 7)
  10. Maddy Morphosis (Preseason: 11, Last Week: 9)
  11. Orion Story (Preseason: 14, Last Week: 12)
  12. Kornbread the Snack Jitay (Preseason: 3, Last Week: 4)
  13. Alyssa Hunter (Preseason: 7, Last Week: 11)
  14. June Jumbalaya (Preseason: 8, Last Week: 9)
  • Shocker- another wrong prediction. I was close with Jasmine (both in preseason and last week), but I incorrectly said Daya Betty would finally go.
  • The first look sets up Bosco and Camden for a lot of attention (I think Bosco will get the Saltine part).
  • It’s a Rusical, and I think Angeria and Deja will do well. I’m gonna say Camden will get revenge on Bosco for part stealing and also do well. Jorgeous got a part focused on performing so I think she will be safe or even high.
  • That leaves Daya, Willow and Bosco. I still believe Willow and Bosco are final 4, so I think one of them will defeat Daya. Since Bosco is the one focused on in the first look I think she’ll be the one lipsyncing.
  • I wouldn’t be shocked to see Bosco lose and have the golden ticket. However, I’m going to say they will save it for next episode. That’s all I got.

LIST

Every Lip-sync from This Episode Ranked

  • 6-“Respect”: Daya Betty def. Jasmine Kennedy

Daya definitely won, but partially through a dirty tactic (blocking the other queen). It wasn’t bad, but wasn’t super exciting either.

  • 5- “Swept Away”: Bosco def. Jasmine Kennedy

I LOVE the song, and once Jasmine went kooky, Bosco had it in the bag. It just wasn’t a super engaging lip-sync.

  • 4- “Love Don’t Cost A Thing”: Angeria Paris Van Michaels def. Jasmine Kennedy

Angeria truly has star power and it was a pleasure to see her strut and pose. Did her serious tone particularly match this song? Not really but it was still a fun watch.

  • 3- “Never Too Much”: Willow Pill def. Bosco

Willow did a nice job and it was cool to see the judges reward a more simple performance.

  • 2-“Don’t Let Go”: Lady Camden def. Bosco

Lady Camden rocked it. So sensual and captivating. It was nice to see her really flourish again. The camera shot of both of their faces is Emmy worthy.

  • 1- “Radio” by Beyonce: Jorgeous def. Lady Camden and Angeria Paris Van Michaels

I usually hate 3 way or more-way lip-syncs, but this one was actually really good. Jorgeous is such a unique and confident performer, and this song suited her perfectly. Angeria did great as well, and even Camden had some fantastic moments. It was fun.

Alright my dears. With that- let the music play! See you next week!
